Planning of our preliminary..

We decided that there were many elements that we need to look at when putting together our Preliminary:

1. Rough Story line
2. Location
3. Actors
4. Dialogue
5. Story-board

1. Rough Story
Needing to include a door being opened and a room being walked into, plus a converstation between two figures we simply went with the idea of a meeting between a boss and employee. In the meeting the boss would blaim the employee for stealing money and then the employee would admit and the boss would then fire them.

2. Location
We knew we needed a door to be opened, then we need a room that was big enough to fit in the two people that we needed for our story. Secondly the room needed to be big enough for the camera to be placed at different posistions around the two people being filmed. We therefore looked around our school for a suitable room. Below are the classrooms and locations we considered.
This is one of the larger classrooms in school and yet it is extremely cluttered which means posistioning the camera and people in a way that you could actually get all the shots you want would be very difficult. There is the problem of the room being an English classroom that  is used at most times of the day which means arranging to use it would be difficult in making sure that it dosen't clash with our actors.

This is the corridor/ door of the English room above. It does work affectively in the sense that the corridor twists round the corner which means that you don't have to worry about where the figure comes from at the start of the scene for they can simply come from around the cornor and thus the scene starts. The corridor is quite narrow and short though and therefore it could be quite difficult to get the correct shot of the opening of the door.

This is one of the smallest classrooms in school and it creates a more discrete allusion that would suit the idea of a meeting between an employer and a employee. It is more private and less cluttered than the English classroom. Also the desk in the middle is perfect for the two figures to sit round. The windows in the room do create a situation because of the reflections they will create.

This is a photograph of the corridor and the door into the room (above). The main problem with this corridor is that it is an extremely busy main corridor, used at most times of the day, with classrooms the whole way along the corridor and the libary on the opposite side of corridor to the door.  The amount of traffic with people would make using the classroom difficult, and the noise outside may be a problem.

This is a medium sized classroom which we found was too cluttered, with windows that will reflect! It also happens to open up onto the main corridor discussed in the past photograph.

This is another one of the largest classrooms in school and its size is the main problem. It is a bit to big, so much so that the two figures could easily be lost in it.

This is another large classroom. This time I think it has some attributes, as a downstairs room with trees outside the window there is little light so it won't cause problems for continuity we will therefore use this room. It is quite empty in the sense that there is little clutter, also with a slight reshufferling of tables we can create a desk near the front of the room. The room is bright, clean and not many classroom posters or anything around the room- to take away the attention of what is happening.

This is a shot of the corridor and door of the room we wish to use. It has great oppotunity with a wide corridor and the doors lead to a way to start the scene. The corridor is also quieter than other corridors in the school therefore it works well.

3. Actors
We need two actors for the film and we chose two of our friends, that were willing to be part of our production and helping us experiment with the camera and getting used to it. Also both girls were credible in their acting capability.

4. Dialogue
The dialogue had to be simple with as few lines as possible, and very short lines, because the preliminary isn't that long so:

Hayley: I've been expecting you,
Do you know why you're here?

Georgina: No

Hayley: I think you do

Georgina: Ok I stole the money

Hayley: I'm sorry I'm going to have to let you go
